Mantle Makeover
Mantle Makeover, originally uploaded by TheCootieQueen.
Man, I wish I’d posted this yesterday so it would have been Monday’s Mantle Makeover. There’s nothing better than some good old fashioned alliteration! Alliteration is awesome! (whoop! did it again!)
…Anyway. I decided my mantle needed a makeover. Here’s where you pretend that I was actually smart enough to take a “before” photo. Cause I didn’t. I was packing up all of the candles and vases that used to be on my mantle when I realized I should have taken a “before” photo, but then I blew it off and was all “I’m so not going to unpack all of these and set them back up for a photo. Surely I’ve got a picture somewhere that I can use.”
Fast forward to today when I spent an entire hour during Henry’s morning nap looking for a stupid freakin’ picture. No dice. WTF? How is it possible that I don’t have one picture that shows what my mantle looked like? Go figure.
I really really love the photos I took of the lily in my front yard, so I decided that I would just bite the bullet and display some of my own stuff. I mean, why not, right? Of course I put pictures I take of my Boy all over the place, but I’ve never really displayed anything else I’ve shot. Until now.
I just bought four of the same black frames and 3 square vases. I filled the vases with red, white, and clear glass beads, and this is what I ended up with. I’m not in love with the glass beads yet. I’m probably going to play with that a little more. I like the clean, simple, modern look of the frames and the bright red pop of the photos next to the more rustic feel of my giant clock and the candle sconces.
I’m in the process of finding a place for a wedding photo and a wedding shadow box that my BFF’s made for me. They used to live on the mantle and they got evicted. That’s my next mission… Stay tuned!
That is all,
~sarah
PS – Bet you can’t guess what time I took this photo?

Looks lovely! I literally love it.
The photographed flowers over the fireplace are my favorite.
The clock and the candles are the cream of the crop.
And the beads are beautifully balanced.
Makes up a magnificent mantle makeover, not on Monday but marvelous no matter what!
(alliteration just for you!)
